How I can help you

Therapy

I work with individuals ages 13 and above using an approach (known among clinicians as a Theoretical Orientation) called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This means that I work with individuals to examine their thought processes, and the impact of those thought processes on their emotions, behaviors, and subsequent decision-making. Within this, the client is seen as the “expert,” and the therapist is a facilitator in the process of identifying strengths for the client to build upon for self-improvement. I incorporate a direct-yet-compassionate approach to helping clients make progress towards becoming their best selves.

If you are experiencing distress in any of the following areas, I invite you to reach out to me to schedule an appointment:

  • COVID-19-related issues (e.g., isolation, discouragement, fears, illness, bereavement, loss, etc.)
  • Expatriation/Repatriation issues
  • Athlete/Performer Distress (e.g., Mood issues and/or injuries impacting performance; preparing for or adjusting to the end of an athletic career, etc.)
  • School support (e.g., adjusting to new diagnoses that impact the need for 504 or IEP; enhancing school performance, etc.)
  • Focus, Organization, Time management
  • Identity (racial, ethnic, cultural, sexual, gender, athletic, professional, etc.)
  • Managing Interpersonal Conflict
  • Generalized Anxiety (not including phobias, OCD, or Trauma)
  • Mild to Moderate Depression
  • Adjustment and Transitions
  • Grief
  • Self-Confidence and Sense of Self

Please note: As a licensed psychologist, it is my responsibility to provide support and facilitate interventions for individuals who are experiencing distress. While my focus is on helping an individual enhance and manage their well-being, my training and ethical responsibilities require me to constantly evaluate individuals for the potential of needing a higher level of care (e.g., hospitalization), as safety is part of managing well-being. Non-compliance with a recommendation for a higher level of care or specialty care (e.g., substance abuse treatment) could result in termination of therapy with me, and referral to another provider.
